Decatur Book Festival 2012!

Well, it's that time of year again.....Tonight I'll be heading down to Atlanta, GA for the annual Decatur Book Festival.  If you've ever been to Atlanta, then you know it has some of the best shopping in the south....especially some of the best book shopping. It seems like every time I go to Atlanta I come home with a huge haul of books and tons of clothes from H&M.  I suppose I can't complain!

Last year, the DBF saw the likes of Clyde Edgerton, Tom Perrotta, and Karen Russell (among many others), and this year the festival will feature more than 300 authors, including Erin Morgenstern, Michael Connelly, David Levithan, Lauren Groff, Kevin Henkes, Sheila Turnage, Julie Otsuka, and Gail Tsukiyama.  Seriously, y'all, it gives me chills.

If you want to know more about the DBF, check out their events schedule and full author listing.  I'm so excited I can hardly stand it.  Now I'm off to finish packing!  I shall return on Monday with a full report and an empty wallet.  I hope y'all enjoy the holiday weekend as well!

Book Binge in Atlanta

Despite all the talk that bookstores are in decline, they are alive and thriving in Atlanta, Georgia!  My husband and I recently took a trip to Atlanta for a couple of days and while I was there I visited as many bookstores as I possibly could (of course).  My budget is limited and I was only there for 2 days, so I couldn't get everything on my list or go to ALL the bookstores in the area (unfortunately), but here's what I managed to acquire on my Atlanta book binge:

Threats - Amelia Gray
-Purchased from Eagle Eye Book Shop in Decatur, GA

The Miseducation of Cameron Post - Emily M. Danforth
     - Purchased from Little Shop of Stories in Decatur, GA

The Little Stranger - Sarah Waters
     - Purchased from Barnes & Noble in Little Five Points (Edgewood shopping center), GA

The Last Nude - Ellis Avery (signed copy)
     - Purchased from Charis Books and More in Little Five Points (Atlanta), GA

Annabel - Kathleen Winter
     - Purchased from Eagle Eye Book Shop in Decatur, GA

Straight - Hanne Blank (signed copy)
     - Purchased from Charis Books and More in Little Five Points (Atlanta), GA

P.S.
A big thanks to my sister-in-law, Gala, for showing us around the Decatur/Atlanta area and guiding us to these great bookstores!

Decatur Book Festival

Hey Everybody! For those of you who live in the south, I thought you might want to know about the Decatur Book Festival, which will be Sept 2-4 this year in Decatur, Georgia.  There will be authors from all genres there, but the festival will include mostly children's and YA literature. I'll be going so you can expect a full report afterwards, but if you think you might be interested, here's the link to their events site.
